Abygail Korotky
Abygail is 5 years old. Abygail is extremely tactile. This means; the best way for her to learn is to just literally be in the world around her. She loves anything that has to do with being outdoors and nature. Abygail enjoys sculpting with clay and play dough. Finger painting is another favorite because it’s a time to get goopy and just plan messy. Her most favorite color is green!
Abygail was born 8 weeks premature at a whopping 4lbs. From the start she was a fighter. Due to lack of oxygen at birth; Abygail sustained scattered brain damage in her left temporal lobe; and was placed on a CPAP (breathing machine) for about four days. She remained in the NICU for 30 days; and was on a heart monitor for about five months after that.
In her short five years Abygail has been diagnosed with: Mild CP, Apraxia/Dyspraxic speech, severe developmental delays, PDD with Autistic tendencies, and focal epilepsy. However, nothing stops her from being one amazing child.
We feel that allowing Abygail to just experience things, at her own comfort level; is the best thing for her. Art and photography have been huge outlets for Abygail to express herself. It is also an amazing therapeutic tool; to keep her muscles moving, and a smile on her face. It’s so much fun seeing all the womderful things she creates. Most of all; it gives Abygail so much to be proud of.
